Red Giants Masters attend the Rice March Madness Meet

Written by John    Monday, 15 March 2010 03:32

Matt and John made the trip to Houston on Saturday and swam in the brand new Rice University pool.  They both kicked off the meet with the 500.  Matt went on to a good 50 free, a nicely split 200, a good 100 free, and finished strong with a 50 fly.  John also swam the 200 IM and 200 free.

The pool was fantastic, and the weather was great.  Lots of good swimming, too - hopefully there will be some pictures posted, since I managed to forget to take any.

Hopefully, we can get a good group together for the zone meet at the Woodlands!

Four meets coming up in the South Texas area!
The South Texas Masters site has a list of upcoming meets here. The Rice meet is a pretty do-able day meet, and this year will be at their new pool, which looks pretty nice!

The zone meet will be at the Woodlands, also at a nice new facility. It will be a two day meet (or 3, if you want to swim the 1650!), and zone meets typically have a good turn out with some pretty good swimming.

Nationals is in Atlanta this year. Qualifying times are here. If you're interested in going and you don't think you'll get to one of the area meets, we can arrange to do some timed swims during practice.

Let us know if you are interested competing in any of these. I plan to swim at the zone meet, and may try to attend the Rice meet.
